Retinal Photography at J Neville Opticians

We have now had our Nidek AFC 2010 digital camera for some time, and it’s proven a great choice for our patients who have been very happy with this addition.This camera allows optometrists to examine the back of your eyes more closely and take high definition photographs of the retina – the light-sensitive lining inside the eye. These images can be enlarged and stored so that any changes can be compared over time and conditions diagnosed earlier.It’s not just eye conditions that can be revealed by Retinal Imaging Technology. It can also be used to monitor and detect:

  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure
  • AMD age-related macular degeneration
  • High Cholesterol
  • Symptoms associated with brain tumours
  • Risk of stroke

While other opticians often charge for this additional service, here at J. Neville Opticians, the photography is included as part of your eye examination whether private or NHS, with no extra charge.
